The fact is, the Republican Party has promoted Paul Ryan, whose ideas are politically bad while keeping a lid on Jeff Sessions (denying him Budget Committee chairmanship) whose ideas are political winners.
I saw some of Trump’s Las Vegas speech yesterday. He mentioned McCarthy bowing out and thought it was good. No handwringing over McCarthy’s career for Donald Trump. Just like Trump was the only one to go at the obvious winner illegal immigration issue, he’ll be the only one to go at the obvious loser Republican issues like cutting/voucherizing Social Security and Medicare. He’ll do it by holding the wars and warmongers accountable for wasting money.
