If you’re going to boast how your “tax credit” checks go to “working families,” why not restrict the checks to working families? Biden’s plan explicitly–triumphantly, from the perspective of the left–does not do that. This is what he is trying to hide.

Right. But he’s also trying to send welfare to non-working people by pretending they are really “hard-working” — old Dem welfare trick (until Bill Clinton came along and briefly substituted a clear-eyed picture of welfare population). https://t.co/ba0H8PrX6k

Could have been @GeneSperling46 calling over and telling the “official” quoted by Newsweek to come up with some stat STAT. The official “spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal analyses.” Not confidence-inspiring. https://t.co/7C1k0pIXSO

CORRECTION: I was thinking of *new* recipient families to whom Biden is now providing the “refundable” credit. They seem likely to be non-workers. There are also those who got partial–not full–credits before. Would be good to know how many of them are working/”hard-working” https://t.co/FV3iEbNxjL

You wonder what this official/unofficial Treasury calculation means by “have a job or a source of self-employed income.” One dollar in self-employment income? $100 in a year? $0–but have a ‘source.” Strongly suspect it is not what most people mean by “have a job” or ‘work.’ https://t.co/7C1k0pIXSO

Another sign of crack staff work from @VP Harris’ office. Didn’t realize that the old boast about cutting poverty in half (see, e.g., here https://t.co/1ArBudEUWz) was now inoperative. https://t.co/6JCeEX7eD8

Before now you could get the “child tax credit” if you earned as little as $2,500/year, as I understand it. Obviously the millions of new recipients Biden is adding, who make *less* than that, are mostly non-workers, no? https://t.co/uf70PheGer

Biden keeps talking today about “working families”-bogus because his “refundable” child credits go to non-working families. That’s what’s new! He even says it’s “hard-working families” who gain from refundability-must be BS. Surely it’s mostly non-workers https://t.co/N6m1D7VG5d

Happy to bet @GeneSperling $100 that the Biden Child Tax Credit will *not* reduce child poverty even by his marked-down 35%. (And it’s not worth moving people a bit above an arbitrary $ line if it means re-growing a dependent underclass.) https://t.co/6JCeEX7eD8

One of President Clinton’s biggest achievements was the 1996 welfare reform: When the message went out that you had to work to get benefits, work dramatically increased. None of the scoops from the various Trump books, so far, have provided evidence for the Dems’ 1/6 narrative–that Trump conspired with the rioters to block the electoral count through violence. …Doesn’t mean evidence isn’t there.
